Storm Ready
The ISU campus needs to be updated on being storm ready. We as meteorologists can help fellow students in being ready for severe weather and where to go during severe weather events by designating certain buildings and rooms for shelter. In order to achieve this we will have to check buildings separately to make sure that signs are hung and directions are given on where to go. This is another great way for the AMS to get involved in the community. If anyone wants to be involved in with this, please contact Chris (pres.isuams).
Tornado Committee
Met at end of meeting to get things in order for enhancements to the tornado machine for next semester.
Academic Chair:
Finals week is coming up in a few weeks. Good luck on all of your exams and try not to cram.
Tutors are still needed to aid in Calculus I and Meteorology 206. Contact Chris Schaffer (academic.isuams) if you are interested in becoming a tutor.
Social Chair:
Next social event will occur on Tuesday December 4th,2007 in 3140! Bring games and things to play, planning on having a Nintendo Wii, Xbox and Playstation 2 set up for entertainment. Will be a great time for a break from studying, so be sure and come for a fun night with all of your meteorology friends!
Forecasting contests
National- congrats goes out to Dr. Gallus, Jon Hobbs, Ben Schwedler and Ryan Alliss for being the top forecasters of their classes for Portland, Maine. Also give congrats to Dr. Gallus, Jon Hobbs, Chris Conoan and Justin Wittrock for winning their respectable classes for Peoria, Illinois. Chris actually placed 2nd in the nation and was the best forecaster for his class. Great job everyone. Cumulatively Iowa State is 41st.
Please remember to forecast as it brings down the teams overall score if you don?t.
Local- can still join, free of cost! Congrats goes to Brandon Engelson for winning the last period for Waterloo, IA. He is still the overall leader of the contest followed by Jayson Prentice, Chris Schaffer and Jon Hobbs.
Cy's Eyes
Shows are going good, be sure to pay your dues. The first show will pick back up on the first Wednesday of next semester. Great job to everyone associated with the production of Cy?s Eyes. Your help is greatly appreciated because without everyone?s support, the show wouldn?t go on. Be sure to watch the final show this Wednesday November, 28th at 6:30pm on ISU TV.
Historian:
If anyone wants to have a copy
of any episode of Cy's Eyes, contact Jeff Edmonson (historian.isuams).
Some new photos have been added to the board outside room 3128.
Be sure to check them out! As always keep getting pictures to
Jeff so they can be added to the AMS website.
Next tentative Meeting is Thursday Jan 17th, 2008 (first week of Spring semester!!)
Everyone have a great break!
