Cy’s Eyes on the Skies is the only student run weather show completely run by students at Iowa State University. Founded in 1999, the main purpose of the show has been to give those students wanting to pursue a career in broadcast meteorology a chance to practice their on-air skills and gain experience making weather graphics and working with a green screen.

In August, 2011, Cy’s Eyes on the Skies upgraded to the state of the art graphics system known as Fusion put out by Weather Central. This new piece of equipment has been helping the students learn even more about a career in broadcast meteorology than ever before.

It does not matter if a student does not wish to go on-air as extra assistance is always needed to help with the production of each show with equipment such as cameras, audio and commercial server.

The studio is housed in 171 Hamilton Hall and all are welcome. Please contact the show’s producers, Jan Ryherd (jmryherd@iastate.edu) and Zane Satre (zsatre@iastate.edu) with any questions or comments.
