Chapter Activities in the Community

The Iowa State Student Chapter of the American Meteorlogical Society is dedicated to advancing the public's knowledge of meteorology and how weather can impact them. Each year, members of the chapter interact with grade school and high school students to put on programs teaching the basics of meteorology. Chapter members will travel to area schools and perform a variety of demonstartions and hands on activites at school science nights and school talks.

The chapter also volunteers at severe weather awareness events in the communities surrounding Iowa State University. Providing education about the dangers of cold winter weather and severe summer weather, members work with event organizers to provide the appropriate facts and safety tips. Each spring the chapter hosts a session of the National Weather Service's advanced spotter training on the Iowa State University campus.

If you would like to request the services of the chapter for a school talk, weather awareness event, or any other event, please submit your request on our website.
