National AMS Membership
-Join or renew your National
AMS membership if you haven't done so already. The cost is $15
per year and you also receive a free BAMS magazine every month filled
with many great articles as well as possible senior thesis ideas (It's
never too early to start thinking about a senior thesis topic!).
Order forms are available in the AMS mailbox in Agron 3010 or go online
to www.ametsoc.org.
Treasurer Update - Lisa
-We have $2600 in our account, but this number will fluctuate over the next few weeks.
-There was a motion to reimburse Colin for money used to purchase food for last spring's picnic and the motion was passed for the amount of $72.91.
-Justin Schultz received
a gift card to Target for winning the first snowfall contest.
Social Chair Update - Jesse
-Childhood Regression Night will be NEXT Friday, December 8th. Bring your own board games and the movie Ice Age if you have it. If you have any other ideas for activities, talk to Jesse (social.isuams@iastate.edu).
-Men's broomball TONIGHT (Tuesday) at 1:10 a.m.
-We may be able to tour
the C4 Lab next semester. Stay tuned for more information.
Academic Chair Update - Kaj
-As you all know, finals week is coming up and the semester is almost over!
-Section leaders for next semester:
Mteor 301: Jason Patton
Mteor 342: Liz White and Jesse Wartman
Math 165: Jason Patton and Jesse Wartman
-If your current section leader isn't doing his/her job, let Kaj (academic.isuams@iastate.edu) know.
-If you would like to buy or sell used books, check the forums.
-There will be a new meteorology
course offered to seniors in the spring: Mteor 490B - History of Meteorology.
Cy's Eyes Update - Kaj and Scott
-We have had some hiccups in the past couple of shows due to the condition of studio. That said, we will try and have a show Wednesday, but it will be the last one of the semester.
-The show continues to improve over the years so don't hesitate to stay involved next semester!

Tape Preparation Workshop
-We are thinking of having
a workshop for those interested in broadcast meteorology. The
workshop will help those who are interested learn how to prepare a resume
tape. More details to come.
Wx Challenge - Jayson

are in the last period of the semester and will end on Friday, December
8th.
Iowa Forecast Contest - Jon
-We have had 5 periods so far and we are in the final period. Chris Schaffer won the last period and NGM MOS is current overall leader.
-We will also forecast 1 or 2 periods over winter break.
-Talk

Constitutional Amendments
-We voted to approve the following amendments:
Addition of Sophomore Chair - Article IV, 3d.
Addition of Academic Chair - Article IV, 3e.
Addition of Vice President attending
LAS Council meetings
Apparel
-Apparel has arrived and everyone but one person has picked theirs up.
-We have five extra navy blue long sleeve t-shirts available: 2 S, 2 M, and 1 L.
Cost
is $15. Talk to Liz (vp.isuams@iastate.edu) if you would like one.
Calendars
- The calendars will be available prior to Winter Break.
-We had to cut back on the number of holidays we added because each addition costs $1.
-You can still order calendars!
We are currently at 200 orders and would like to get to 300.
VEISHEA
-Saturday, April 21 - ISU's sesquicentennial (150 years) kickoff
-We would like to have a booth that showcases the past 150 years of meteorology and how it has changed over the years.
-Email
Justin (pres.isuams@iastate.edu) with more ideas for the booth.
Spring Break Trip - Oklahoma
-This opportunity provides you with a fun, cheap, educational, trip for Spring Break.
-We would like to go to The National Weather Center in Norman, Ok (which just opened) and we have two contacts who would be able to give us tours.
-A sign-up sheet went around for those who are interested in going on the trip.
-Talk to Liz (vp.isuams@iastate.edu) if you would like to help plan the trip.
-If you have ideas for
places other than Oklahoma, talk to Liz. New ideas are always
welcome.
-The trip will probably cost $200 or less.
CPR Training
-Nothing
new on this topic. Justin will let us know when he has more details.
Senior Thesis Symposium
-Monday, December 4th starting at 8:30 a.m. in Agron 3140 (Conference Room)
-Non-Seniors: It is a good idea to attend so you can get ideas for your future senior thesis!
-Cookies
and doughnuts will be served!
Edwards Elementary Science Night
-Tuesday, January 16, 6-8 p.m.
-A sign-up sheet was passed around; email Justin (pres.isuams@iastate.edu) if you'd like to help and didn't sign up.
-We usually bring the tornado machine and tornado videos to show to the children.
-Rides
will be provided if you need one.
Pakistan Student Association
-The organization is selling t-shirts for $8, and the proceeds go to earthquake relief.
-Talk to Jessica Reese
(jreese@iastate.edu) if you are interested in purchasing one.
