March 23, 2003
School Talks: We will be doing numerous school talks during severe weather awareness week March 24-28. If you were not at the meeting and want to sign up get a hold of Brandon. More info should be emailed to all those participating in the talks soon.
There is also and ISU Science and Technology Fair Saturday March 29th. If you can help with this talk to Jenny. It is during the Severe Storms Conference, so if you are going to that, you probably cant help with this.
One more school talk, Thursday April 10th to 6th graders. More info will come on this. We don't know much about it yet.
Severe Storms Conference: Coming soon! If you still need to set up arrangements for staying at the hotel email Penny. She will also be sending out an email early in the week about transportation to try to make sure everyone will have a ride there.
VEISHEA: April 12th we will be setting up a booth in "Cy's Big Top" Jon Hobbs will have a planning meeting after spring break. If you want to help, email him. .
Spring Break: Group of 5 members are going (went) to Florida for spring break. They will do a presentation on where they went and what they learned. We typically pay for gas money for the spring break trip. We need to vote on how much to pay for. This vote will be in a separate email when Brandon gets back to town.
Officer Nominations: These are the nominations as of now. Elections will be held the first meeting after break. If you have other nominations email them to Brandon.
President:Weather Instruments: Graduate students Dave Flory and Eric Aligo, presented us with a proposal to buy weather instruments. There are instruments on the roof of agronomy that are wired to a Davis Weather Station in the map room. They would like to get all the instruments in good working order and make this data available for everyone-it could help in some senior theses or instrumentation projects. They are asking us to help pay for the Temperature sensor and ventilated shield for this sensor. The temperature sensor is $23, and there are two options for shields. $72.50, and the other is $187.50. The more expensive one is obviously better than the other-it is fan-aspirated. If you were not at the meeting you may want to look at the presentation and/or proposal on the web before making a decision on this. We will vote on this through email in the next week as well.
One last thing-if you ordered shirts, and haven't picked them up please do so. And if you haven't paid, do that so we have money!
