Goals and Objectives
My main interests include climate, modeling, remote sensing, and programming. I find the study of climate fascinating because of how anthropogenic emissions are dramatically altering our climate in new and complex ways. Models, specifically of the climate, interest me because they play a vital role in predicting how those emissions will affect our earth in the future. Remote sensing, along with proxy data, is often used to verify climate models and also intrigues me since accurately calibrating remote sensing techniques is crucial in maintaining an accurate record of the earth’s climate. Finally, I enjoy the challenge of writing code to solve complex model and data manipulation problems.
My educational goals include graduating Iowa State University with honors, a GPA above 3.9, and a supplementary background in mathematics and programming in addition to my Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. My professional goal is to research my aforementioned scientific interests to gain an overall better understanding of the atmosphere. Through multiple experiences, I've developed an interest in continuing on to graduate school to become involved with research while obtaining my M.S. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science. After academia, I plan to pursue a career as a researcher at either a university, government facility, or private company.
