Changing Color Tables

The default color tables provide with GR are useable, but generally not of sufficient resolution for our purposes. Some popular color tables are included below, but you should feel free to use whatever color tables you like best. To change the color table for a given GR parameter, you will need to take the following steps:

  1. Open GR Level II Analyst.
  2. Make sure the product that you are changing the color table for is showing. For example, if you want to change the velocity color table, make sure a velocity product is showing (base velocity or storm relative velocity)
  3. Under the View menu, select 'Set Color Table'.
  4. Browse to the location of your saved color table and select the corresponding file for the product you are interested in.
  5. Click on 'Open' to apply the selected color table.

Here is a list of popular color tables that are available for your use. They are also available on the meteorology computer system Share drive (Z drive) under the GR directory.
