Educational Goals and Objectives

Educational Goal

My eduactional goal is to get my B.S. Degree in Meteorology and then I would like to go on to get my Masters. This will give me an advantage over other potental candidates.

Steps To Accompish This

To reach this goal, I will have to work hard in all my classes. Otherwise, I will not be able to get into the graduate program. Several things the meteorology faculty want us to understand and be able to do are: Physics and Dynamics of the Global Atmosphere, Application of New Weather Technologies, Weather Observation and Analysis, Advanced Mathematical Tools, Computer Programming and Modeling, along with Effective Oral and Written Communication. I am and have taken many classes for these objectives. I will also have to study hard for each individual class. If I am struggling in a class, I will find someone that can help me understand what I am confused about. Also I need to make good use of my free time, especially any freetime during the day.

Strengths

I am good at many things which I can use to accomplish this goal. I like to read many types of books and I read everyday. Usually I read course books or meteorology journals. These I feel will help me to further my understanding about courses I will take. I have completed an internship at KCRG which gave me a great understanding on broadcast meteorology. I am also in The National Honors Chapter of American Meteorology Society and the Iowa State University American Meteorology Society. Just lately I have joined the Weather Modification Assocciation, this can give me updated information that has to do with cloud seeding.

Barriers

I have trouble understanding some things in class and outside of it, which leads me to have lower grades.

Steps to Overcome Barriers

I will take more time to learn topics. If I still don't understand, I will either look it up in a book or talk to people that can help me understand it.
