Professional goals: My largest professional goal would be to perform and publish studies on mesoscale meteorology and severe weather. My reasoning is listed below under my professional objectives. I would feel honored to work for any of these government agencies: the United States National Weather Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL), the Storm Prediction Center (SPC), the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), among other places and institutions.
Professional objectives: Once I am out in the meteorological work force, what I would like to do is research mesoscale meteorology and severe weather, mainly tornados and thunderstorms. As a small child, I had this unusual fixation of tornados. I was about five years of age when my interest in meteorology went into full bloom. Growing up, I also watched the television broadcast meteorologists, and I had always tuned in to them in times of dangerous severe weather outbreak.
Even at a young age, I knew the dangers of severe weather, and I understood the importance of education and general understanding of severe weather. Therefore, what I wanted to do, to help save lives, was to research severe weather and improve forecasting accuracy. That's my main professional objective, to improve forecasting in general. I would describe myself as a very compassionate individual, and I like to help people, and considering how many lives have been destroyed by the damage that storms leave behind, I wish to help increase education and understanding to help people get to shelter faster. This is why I want to improve forecasts--to help save lives.
