Chapter 6.2 Absorption and Emission by molecules
Isolated molecules have discrete units of absorption and emission of energy, therefore, only certain “n”, “l” can interact w/ molecules
This produces a “discrete line spectrum”
Radiation emitted by the sun varies in l from about 10 -14 to 10 10 m and in n 10 22 to 10 -2 s-1 and the totality of all l’s is called the “Electromagnetic Spectrum”
