These loops are very useful in determining what is happening over the continental Unites States.  The visible loop show actual photos of the clouds in the atmosphere.  The water vapor loop shows were any abundance of moisture is located and how it is moving.  The infrared image shows the temperature of the cloud tops.  The colder the top is, the higher the clouds extend vertically.  The black and white infrared loop is excellent for locating clouds at night since the visible loop needs light in order to see the clouds.
