Objectives
- To conduct a critical review of some of the current literature on
regional climate modeling
- To share and discuss our understanding of regional climate modeling
What Students Should Provide
- I need each of you to send me two candidate papers for discussion.
I will select one, if possible, or else direct you to find additional
candidates.
- For the selected paper, find the full citation information
(authors, year, journal, etc.) and email it to me. The best format
for this is the format the Science Citation Index (see Web of Science
below) uses when you email references found in the Index (including
abstract) to yourself.
- Prepare a PowerPoint presentation to use in the classroom, to lead
the discussion. Send me a copy of the presentation electronically so
that I can add it to this web site.
- The presentation should give:
- Basic citation information
- Author's motivation for the research reported in the paper
- Methods used
- Critical review of the results
- Suggestions for how their work might be extended.
- And of course, come to class prepared to discuss. You should read
the abstract (see below) ahead of time.
Some Links
- Iowa State Library
Use this to get to the ISU Library online catalogue and other
e-resources. You might find electronic access to a journal's paper if
you search for it in the online catalogue and find an entry that
states it is an "electronic resource".
- Web of
Science
You can go directly to the Science Citation Index from this. Web of
Science is also accessible through the ISU libary's online resources.
- Science Direct
Science Direct provides online access to some journals.
