Week 10 - Baroclinic Development
Techniques to determine where surface pressures will rise or fall have been around for many years. Basically, one can use the QG omega equation to get a good idea of where pressures will rise or fall. They fall (rise) due to the same processes producing upward (downward) motion. Thus, look for pressure falls in regions of upper-level CVA and warm advection. Downslope or upslope flow often is a major player in influencing surface pressure as well.Lab 10 exercise mapsLab 10 extra questions |
